The LYF Water 7S is very much identical to the LYF Water 7, except that the device has 3GB of RAM instead of 2GB on the LYF Water 7. As the device benefits in the amount of RAM, it compromises on battery; the LYF Water 7S has 2,800 mAh battery instead of 3,000 mAh on the LYF Water 7. Both the devices look identical in many aspects.
The LYF smartphones are more focused on the entry-level and mid-range smartphone devices. The LYF Water 7S directly competes with the Xiaomi’s Redmi 3S Prime. The device also succeeds in providing as many features as the Xiaomi’s Redmi 3S provides. The LYF Water 7S has an interesting design. The removable back panel of the device has an asymmetrical pattern that provides better grip in the hands.
Display & Hardware
The LYF Water 7S houses a Full HD display having a size of 5.5-inches. The display unit is an IPS panel, which means that the bad viewing angles won’t be an issue. Although, the display does not has any sort of protection. The internals of the device includes 3GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable internal storage, an octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor. The hardware specifications of the LYF Water 7S are pretty impressive considering that the device comes in the entry-level price range.
Software & Other Features
Unlike some of the other smartphone devices from LYF in the same price category that comes pre-installed with Android 5.0 Lollipop, the LYF Water 7S comes loaded with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Speaking of other features, the LYF Water 7S has a fingerprint reader on the back of the device; it can be used to perform multiple actions, such as unlocking the device, unlocking the applications, and opening apps with a specified assigned fingerprint. The software also includes features such as voice unlock, emergency rescue, and mobile anti-theft.
Battery, Connectivity, & Camera
As mentioned earlier, the LYF Water 7S has a 2,800 mAh battery that LYF claims to provide five hours of HD video playback and six hours of 4G talk-time. The LYF Water 7S is 4G LTE capable device with support for two SiM cards. A 13-megapixel primary camera and a 5-megapixel secondary camera are in-charge of imaging on the LYF Water 7S. A primary camera is an autofocus unit, whereas the secondary camera has a fixed focus. The camera software includes automatic scene detection as well as time-lapse videos.
